In July 2022, Angie went to feed a dog at a residence and saw Diamond motionlessly laying in the back corner of the yard with serious bite wounds all over her head and neck. After some negotiation, Angie was able to convince the owners to surrender Diamond so she could be treated. Turns out Diamond was likely within hours, no more than a day, of dying being severely under weight and infested with fleas, ticks, and hook worms. Diamond's gums were white due to blood loss from her wounds, infection, and parasitic infestations.
Angie rushed her to the vet, nurtured her back to a healthy, playful and friendly girl. Then Diamond found her loving mom and dad right before the Thanksgivings 2022.

Beto was loved by his late owner, and then he and his other fur-siblings came to Angie's Friends program. One by one, they got adopted, but not Beto.
He's gentle, quiet, and easily overlooked. We felt for him, and couldn't understand why no one would come to love him.
Then we realized, it's because Beto, now Max, is meant to be part of a very loving and especially kind family. Rebecca, her husband and her amazing son opened their arms to welcome Max to the family for the holiday season.
Max, you are home!

Whitesox
Whitesox

White Socks lost his sweet German shepherd mix mom in April 2016.  They escaped from the yard and only White Socks returned. We searched for mom, Sydney, and put up posters, but she was never found.  These two spent a lot of time under the house as it was cool and as White Socks got bigger he had trouble getting out from under the house and ended up partially tearing his ACL.  He had surgery and the owner blocked the entrance to get under the house. In February of 2017, White Socks got out of the yard and was missing for about a week. He showed up at home but then the next day was outside the fence when Angie went to feed.  Angie talked to the owner about being sure the gate is closed but he apparently couldn't be bothered and told Angie to take him. White Socks was very happy to be at Angie's and get to play with all of the other doggies. He was loved by all at adoption events and we couldn't understand why no one wanted him except that he is a big boy.  Finally, in April of 2018 White Socks was adopted by a wonderful young couple who absolutely adore him. They occasionally bring him to adoption events to say hi and we are always glad to see this sweet handsome boy.

Beaudine
Beaudine

Beaudine was found by Angie in west Dallas hanging out near a female dog.  She began feeding him and when she saw Dallas Animal Services trying to catch him, she decided to rescue him.  He proved to be very loving and easy-going. He got lots of attention at adoption events but it took a while for an adoption.  Unfortunately, the adopter was deployed overseas and the girl friend had no interest in caring for Beaudine. He was returned to Angie, but within a few months he was adopted by a couple who had previously adopted Princess from Angie in 2016.  Princess passed away summer of 2018 and Beaudine was adopted in September. His new mom and dad are so happy to have him.

Zeke
Zeke

Zeke was surrendered to Angie by his owner, a man that Angie has helped for years.  Zeke was taken in after the man lost his other dog to injuries received from a dog attack.  Zeke stayed on a tether on a cement driveway.  He was very fearful of storms.  Zeke is a large strong dog who generally gets along with everyone.  After a failed trial visit he got some training to improve leash behavior and learn basic commands.  The same couple who adopted Beaudine saw him and fell in love.  Zeke went to meet Beaudine and begin a trial visit on March 9, 2019.  It's a happy ending for Zeke--being spoiled by his new parents and a great fur brother to pal around with.

Cash
Cash

Cash was formerly a chained yard dog that Angie fed. He broke his cable, escaped and was picked up by animal services. The owner did not want him so Angie rescued him from the shelter. He is a big boy who did not show well at adoption events because of his barking. He was not aggressive, just wanted to get out of his crate and play with all of the other pups he saw. He received obedience training and then went into boarding until he was adopted by a wonderful family who have another pit mix. The mom, dad, two sons and the two dogs are living happily ever after!

Rudy
Rudy

Rudy is another dog that Angie fed. The owner allowed the dog to run free and he was picked up by animal services. The owner did not want to claim him so Angie rescued him. Rudy enjoyed two foster homes before he was adopted and renamed Riley. He is the sweetest, most loving guy who (like all of the rescues) deserves his new wonderful home.

Wilhelmina
Wilhelmina

Wilhelmina was found wandering the streets of west Dallas. She eagerly accepted pats and food. She is a Great Dane/pit mix who looks very regal, thus the fancy name. She was adopted by a family near Waxahachie in 2011. She has over an acre of back yard to run and play in. She "talks" to the cows in the pasture nearby and has made friends with the dogs that live on either side of her. Her new dad works at home a lot so she gets to lie beside him in the office to keep him company. She is called Willie now and is finally getting all of the love she deserves.

Lucas
Lucas

Lucas had an owner who abandoned him in west Dallas. Angie saw him put out of a pickup truck and when the truck sped away Lucas ran after it for quite a distance. Angie saw this and got poor Lucas to come with her. He was adopted in 2011 by two great ladies.

Evie
Evie

When Evie's adoptive family lost their young dog due to an incurable cancer, they were heartbroken.  They have a quiet home with no children so leaned towards adopting seniors.  A friend saw a post of Evie on Angie's Friends Facebook page and shared it.  Evie had lived with an elderly woman for approximately 10 years and the owner passed away.  Evie was left in the backyard to fend for herself.  Someone from Angie's Friends saw the skinny pup and inquired about the dog.  The owner's kin were happy to have someone take her.  She stayed with a foster through Angie's Friends for about a month before her new family saw pictures.  When Evie was adopted in March of 2017, she weighed about 25 pounds and looked sort of like a baby bird because of the amount of hair loss and neglect.  Today she is a perfect 40 pounds and remains one of the sweetest dogs.  She has separation anxiety issues which is understandable given what she went through.  She loves to play with her doggie siblings, walk in the neighborhood, and enjoy an outing on a restaurant patio.  She is afraid of men--even her adoptive daddy.  She is loved a lot and is thriving in her forever home.

Bobby Bob (org. Blade)
Bobby Bob (org. Blade)

Originally named Blade, Bobby Bob was surrendered to Angie by his owner (just didn't want him any more).  He was attacked by another dog while in foster care and so stayed in a one-on-one boarding situation for several months.  He was successfully adopted by a wonderful family in Houston where he was the only dog in the family.  The mom of the family became seriously ill so they had to return Bobby after only several months.  Almost immediately after returning to Dallas, Bobby's story was seen by a lady and her two children.  They fell in love with him instantly and he sure seems to like them.  Hopefully this will be Bobby Bob's forever family and all will live happily ever after.

May and Mario (right side)
May and Mario (right side)

Sweet Mario is another owner surrender who injured his leg trying to jump a fence.  The achilles tendon was so badly torn that it could not be repaired and the leg had to be amputated.  Mario had some complications during surgery and after surgery and for a while we weren't sure he was going to survive.  He had a wonderful foster family that helped him recuperate and heal and just about the time he was fully recovered a nice lady with lots of land complete with a fishing pond wanted to adopt him.  He went for a visit and met a new pal.  Mario and his new family are all happy to have each other.  Mario is the pup on the right in the picture.
